Teaching yoga has been a dream of mine ever since I was a teenager. I grew up in Japan, started yoga, and immediately fell in love. I moved to California in the eighties to join a volunteer group called Up With People. To make a long story short, I became a single mom raising a small child. During that time, my health declined due to overwhelming stress from overwork and over studying. It got to the point that my body couldn’t function anymore. I had to go back to Japan so my parents could take care of me and my boy.
I couldn’t even feed myself. I had terrible eye pain, lost lots of muscle mass since I was in bed all the time, and started developing lower back, shoulders and neck pain. I couldn’t even go outside because I became too sensitive to sunlight. I was a 100 year old woman physically. Throughout all the pain and hardship my love for yoga persisted. I started to do yoga again little by little in those dark days and my body loved it. Yoga really helped to regain all my lost strength and health. I came back to the States, and decided to teach. Yoga is the best thing that happened to me and I knew I could help other people heal their mind and body. I really understand peoples pain.
I’ve been teaching yoga for more than 20 years now. I helped many people over the years. I also started to teach Pilates Reformer to compliment yoga. I truly believe anyone can heal their body. If you have any questions, please call me any time. I’d love to hear from you and I’d love to meet you. I look forward to serving you soon.
Hola! I’m Jomally Fernandez, founder of SOUL WARRIOR YOGA in sunny San Diego, CA. My yoga journey began over 14 years ago, but it wasn’t until issues with Lupus Nephritis threatened my life that I took a leap of faith and decided to devote myself to the teachings & practice of Hatha yoga. I completed my 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, 100- hour Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Training, as well as become a Level II Reiki Practitioner.
My mission through SOUL WARRIOR YOGA is to introduce the healing attributes of yoga, and to empower others to connect with the divine and inner warrior that lives within each of us.
I’m an island girl from Puerto Rico, ocean lover and life enthusiast! My biggest role is as new mommy to Ananda Maya and proud partner to Brian. When off the mat you can catch me at Fiesta Island with my doggies, riding my beach cruiser around Clairemont or dancing while I cook. I am thrilled to share my energy, knowledge & experiences with all those who seek it.
